The worship team leaps for joy

UPDATE: Fri Jan 9th, 5:45pm - we have talked to the campground and have mdae 20 more rooms available for registration before the early-bird deadline passes. If you try to register tonight and are unable to because the tickets are sold out, email glen.davis@gmail.com tonight and let me know. I will guarantee you the early-bird rate while we get more rooms from the campground.

On January 16, hundreds of college students from California,  Oregon, and Nevada will caravan to Occidental, CA for MLK weekend to experience four days of worship, teaching, and prayer.

Your registration price includes admission to all events and also covers your housing and food at the most excellent Alliance Redwoods Bible Camp.

We have some outstanding speakers this year: Karla Estrada, Denise Goulet, and Eric Treuil.

Karla EstradaKarla Estrada was born in Nicaragua, but her family immigrated to the U.S under political asylum when she was a young girl. She graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in psychology and worked as an assistant clinical therapist for 5 years. Karla’s greatest passions are serving God, traveling around the world (she has done this), working with international students and hanging out with her very large “puppy” Keba. Karla now serves as a campus pastor at Sacramento State University.

Denise GouletDenise Goulet travels around the world sharing what the Lord has done in her life: being delivered from living in fear, anger, and insecurity to walking in faith, love, and authority. Through her dynamic walk of transparency and vulnerability she connects with people and draws them to the Father. She and her husband, Paul, pastor the International Church of Las Vegas and she is the mother of three beautiful children. UPDATE: Pastor Denise will not be able to join us because her daughter is about to give birth (hooray for her, sad for us).

Eric TreuilEric Treuil is in great demand as a conference speaker because of his hilarious stories, practical insight, and skill at leading students to an encounter with God. He and his wife Annabelle have led the Chi Alpha ministry at the University of Louisiana - Lafayette for over 20 years and have seen the Lord build an incredible movement on the campus, so that it is now one of the strongest campus ministries in America. They have three awesome kids.

XA Stanford Worship TeamWorship will be led by the Chi Alpha at Stanford worship team. They love Jesus and they love helping people connect with Him in worship. And yes - that's them jumping for joy at the top.

Here are some things to remember:

1) Registration will open at 4pm on Friday. The first worship session will begin at 8pm.

2) Bring a Bible and something to write in.

3) Bring some sandals or flip-flops, as some of the cabins have external showers. Sweats would be good, too.

4) Bring your own bedding (sleeping bag or sheets for a twin bed - and remember to bring a pillow), toiletries, and a towel. This is especially important for those of you who were there last year - the campground made an error and left sheets on the beds. They normally charge for that service, and they won't make the same mistake again.

5) Get the weather at
http://www.wunderground.com/US/CA/Occidental.html

6) There will be a study lounge and there will be wireless internet available.

7) You will probably not have cell phone coverage. In case of an emergency, the camp's number is 707-874-3507.

8) The address is 6250 Bohemian Highway, Occidental, CA. You can find excellent directions for the last stretch at http://www.allianceredwoods.com/pdf/DrivingDirections.pdf

9) There won't be a meal Friday night, so plan to eat on the way. If you want fast food, I suggest you eat before you turn off of 101. The pickins get slim as you head closer to camp. If, on the other hand, you want to eat in an actual restaurant there are several near the campground (just google for "restaurants in Occidental, CA"). There will, however, be three meals on Saturday and Sunday in addition to breakfast on Monday before we depart. This is a change from last year when we had only brunch and dinner each day.

10) Bring a flashlight and also the ability to give in a missions offering (cash or check).

11) There will be a round-the-clock prayer room. Consider whether or not you want to participate. You'll have the chance to sign up for a shift upon check in.

We have met the numbers we contracted with the campground for. I have talked with the staff there and they assure me that there is more room if we need it.

As a result, I have increased the number of tickets that the website will sell but if you try to register and the website tells you that there is no room left, please come and show up anyway. We will take walkon registrations starting at 4pm on Friday.

Unfortunately, Pastor Denise will not be able to join us. Her daughter is about to give birth. Yay for her, sad for us.
